Fitrah Filter ("we", "us") helps Muslim families make informed media choices. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, the legal basis for it, and the rights you have. We are the data controller; you can reach us at support@fitrahfilter.com.

What We Collect

• Account information: your email address and authentication credentials, held via our authentication provider (Supabase). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and basic profile details from them.
• Search queries: the media titles you look up are sent to our servers to produce an analysis, and results may be cached to improve performance.
• Photos (optional): if you use the camera or photo-library feature to extract a title, the image is processed for text recognition and is not stored on our servers.
• Subscription & billing data: handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.
• Technical data: limited logs (such as a network address and app version) needed to operate the service securely.

How We Use Your Data and Our Legal Bases

Under the EU/UK GDPR and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, we rely on the following bases:

• To provide the service (create your account, run analyses, manage your subscription): performance of our contract with you.
• To keep the service secure and reliable (caching, logging, preventing abuse): our legitimate interests.
• Optional features such as photo title-extraction: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by not using the feature.
• To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations: compliance with a legal obligation.

Automated Analysis

Fitrah Filter's core feature is automated: we use AI models to research a title and score it against a set of content criteria. These analyses are informational and advisory only. They do not produce a legal or similarly significant decision about you, and the final judgement about what your family engages with always remains yours. Analyses may be incomplete or inaccurate and should not be relied on as a religious ruling.

Third-Party Services

We share data with service providers only as needed to run the app. Each processes data under its own terms:

• Supabase: authentication and account storage.
• Anthropic (Claude): content analysis.
• Perplexity: gathering web information about media.
• Stripe: subscription payments.
• Google / Apple: optional sign-in.

We do not sell your personal data.

International Data Transfers

Our providers operate servers in various countries, including outside your own and outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on the providers' safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it.

Data Retention

• Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of you closing it.
• Cached analysis results are retained to keep the catalogue fast and useful; they are not tied to your identity.
• Billing records are kept as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law.
• Technical logs are kept for a short period, typically up to 90 days.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these, email support@fitrahfilter.com and we will respond within the time required by law.

If you are in the EU, UK, or UAE and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Fitrah Filter is intended for use by parents and other adults. Accounts are created by adults, and the app is not directed at children, nor do we knowingly collect personal data directly from children.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date.
